Cinema came right after photography had made its initial appearance as a result of advanced technology. Fotos can capture real life and put it in a place where time will never change them. A repetitive picture would construct the first movie where the sound was yet absent. People would see some videos, and the subtitles would help them obtain a further explanation of what they had already seen. Today, cinema is more than that and is considered to be an art. To create a movie, a large group of talented professionals who can interact in an inspired way must be united under a responsible producer’s direction. The process starts with the screenplay, and the director is called to give the script the wings it needs in order to fly. The actors will not only have to accept the director’s suggestions but also give their own unique scent in the final recipe. Here, we talk about the foundations of a successful movie that have helped thousands of artists to come out with wonderful results.
- Plot and suspense
A tight plot is the foundation for a successful movie. Cinema is strictly related to storytelling and the existence of a myth. By myth, we mean an imaginary story that appears to present casual truths we all have to face in our lives. Through the myth, people will manage to identify themselves and manage to find solutions to existing problems. For that reason, the plot is considered quite valuable. Even though there are movies without plots that have managed to capture the interest of a sophisticated part of the audience, there is not a single movie with a structured plot that has failed to captivate everyone’s attention. Moreover, mystery movies and thrillers are often based on suspense. The audience shares the characters’ agony and is waiting to discover the truth. A surprising turn of events is also used to increase the suspense and make people crazy about the movie.
- Heros and characters
The people that appear in the movie are of great interest and concern. A director reading a screen for the first time will have to see the writer’s intentions when it comes to the story’s characters. Remember, a movie is only the evolution of literature and mythology. The most relative type of art that existed long before cinema was theater. Theater was developed in ancient Greece. It is interesting that even though in many civilizations, arts, and sciences were developed sooner or later in a similar form, the theater was the only thing that appeared only in that particular region. The theater is about imitating a great event. So, as you imagine, it has to be about something worth mentioning. Everything that is presented in the movie is important because the person who does or says that is important. The audience has to be convinced about the deepness of the characters and identify themselves in the eyes of these fictionary heroes. That will allow them to project their lives and problems into the movie and feel engaged about what they see.
- Special effects and photography
To start with, cinema is all about the picture. The power that video carries for the audience is amazing. Visual effects have been developed spectacularly over the last few years. Especially now that the screens people have in their homes are also of advanced technology, special effects can do miracles, and science fiction movies are often based on them. On the other hand, less fancy movies can perfectly use photography to stand out from the competition. Eccentric make-up professionals and artists can do miracles. Still, the director of photography is responsible for the visual harmony of the movie. In addition, the music or sounds that are used play a critical role. Without them, the movie can be empty, and the director will fail to communicate to the audience the concept they want. Even though the main characters and the plot are the backbones of a good movie, the final and yet very critical part of the process is how one will finally present it.
